Amusement - Theme Parks

There are so many things to do while you are vacationing at the Beach House, it is hard to list everything.  Accordingly, we have developed an "Entertainment Book" that is placed next to your Welcome Basket upon your arrival.  This book contains brochures on everything we could think of - from amusement parks to museums - from fishing to boat rentals - from beaches to nature hikes.  This "Entertainment Book" is there for your use.

Believe it or not, these are the "main" amusement or theme parks in the area.  However, there are probably another two dozen various theme or adventure parks located within easy driving distance of the Beach House.  These range from Gator Farms to Everglades Parks to Dinosaur Land to Flight of Fantasy to ... You get the idea.

bulletBusch Gardens - located in Tampa (1 hour drive from the Beach House), this is one of my favorite theme parks.  It is a combination of an adventure park with rides and roller coasters, a zoo (many animal settings), and Broadway (they have many great shows).  There is decent shopping as well.  Overall, I believe it is the best theme park for the price.  It is great for young to old alike.

bulletDisney - Animal Kingdom - located in Orlando (2 hour drive from the Beach House), this theme park is a cross between a zoo and a traditional Disney theme park.  Smaller park and fun for smaller children, teenagers do not get into this one too much.

bulletDisney - MGM Studios - located in Orlando (2 hour drive from the Beach House), this theme park of course focuses on MGM movies and TV productions.  It has many rides and exhibits, it is a good park for the whole family.

bulletDisney World - located in Orlando (2 hour drive from the Beach House), this is their "traditional" theme park that they started with.  Note that this park is typically for smaller children, whereas teenagers prefer Epcot over Disney World.

bulletEpcot Center - located in Orlando (2 hour drive from the Beach House), this is their World Entertainment Showcase and is a great day out for the family.  The exhibits, shopping, and dining are really great.

bulletSeaworld - located in Orlando (2 hour drive from the Beach House), this is the traditional ocean theme park, but they have added a lot of rides and exhibits over the past few years.  It is worth a trip back just to see all of the changes they have done.

bulletSilver Springs - located North of Tampa (2 and 1/2 hour drive from the Beach House), this is an amazing historical park where they filmed all of the old Tarzan movies.  Many shows and the springs are incredible - it is actually worth the drive.

bulletUniversal - Islands of Adventures - located in Orlando (2 hour drive from the Beach House), this theme park is connected to Universal Studios and is basically a thrill ride park.  There are many rides and things to see - again based on their various movie productions.

bulletUniversal Studios - located in Orlando (2 hour drive from the Beach House), this theme park of course focuses on Universal movies and TV productions.  It has many rides and exhibits.  I enjoy going back to this park every year.

bulletWeeki Wachee Springs - located North of Tampa (1 and 1/2 hour drive from the Beach House), this is a water theme park with live mermaids, amazing shows, and more.
