Decks, Balconies

The upstairs rear balcony is an open air design that has an arbor covering, which provides some shade but is mostly a sunny environment. We have rattan furniture in this area for relaxing. There are wind chimes, a dinner "triangle" for getting your guests attention, and even a fire pit to enjoy cozy fires any time of the year.

The upstairs balconies are connected with walkways / boardwalks that go around the entire house.

Downstairs Area

The front area is made up of a covered carport (just for one car) and a Storage Room / Area. This area is where the trash cans are kept, we also store nine (9) bicycles of various sizes, and hurricane supplies. The Storage Room is where we keep all of the Swimming Pool and Beach Equipment, along with Fishing Gear and other Sports Equipment. We even have tools, extra propane, sleeping bags, air mattresses, and other essentials - should you need them during your stay.

The rear area has a large deck that is under cover and offers an outside dining area next to the swimming pool and BBQ area. We recently installed a new waterproof ceiling so you could sit outside or eat outside, even if it was raining. We have also incorporated a "mister" system that runs along the outside edge of the upstairs balcony that provides a cool mist during the hotter months of the year. The kids love to stand under them as well. We are also planning on building an outside bar for this area later this Summer (2007).

Similar to the upstairs area, there are walkways or balconies that go around the entire house. The left-hand side of the boardwalk has a large flower garden next to it and the right-hand side area is where the Pool / Beach Shower is located, along with AC / Heat, Pool filtration, and other equipment.

The back and side yards are fenced and gated completely. I lived here for more than 8 years and had two golden retrievers with me. In fact I designed the fencing so the dogs could run around the back and side yards and still have an area where they can go if the weather got bad (up front by the carport area). I also set-up an area by the Storage Room where the dogs could lay and watch people go by on the street. The upstairs has wrap-around decking with balconies / decks on the front and back of the house. The rear steps run down to the pool / backyard area. The front steps go down to the carport area but is secured by a swinging gate that locks. Downstairs - if you look at the carport area, the left-hand side has a boardwalk that runs back alongside the flower garden area. There is a wooden fence-like gate there that is more than 5 feet high and locks in place. On the right-hand side of the carport area is another metal more decorative gate that locks in place. From the two sides of the carport area, the entire backyard is fenced in. All of the gates lock or can be secured so that small children can't open them. So - you can keep your pets and/or the kids secured in the back and side yards without having to worry if they can get out. However, you should always keep an eye of them - as some pets and some children are "escape artists". If when you stay there - you find your pet or child has managed to get out, please let me know and we will close the "escape route". I want to make sure that the back yard is safe for pets and children alike.

We have installed a number of exterior lights that are on dimmer switches to enable you to set the amount or brightness of lighting around the outside of the Beach House. We also have rope lighting along the outside edge of the upstairs front balcony and along the two stairways leading to the upstairs areas. There is also a wide range of landscape lighting as well which are on timers.
